Millicent, the Colorado Springs based band, just released the lyric video for their single “Haze.” The single is impressively self-produced, and has a dreamy vibe-pop sound. Video production is credited to Caleb Newbury.
Millicent's refreshingly innovative and evolving sound provides for a promising future and makes them an artist to watch on the Colorado music scene. The band's recent shows with Zella Day and Broods signify their up-and-coming sound which is quickly gaining recognition in the SoundCloud world and beyond. What inspired you to write this song?
Originally it was just kind of conceptual, I wrote it for the band I was in before starting Millicent. However, it's stayed in the back of my mind over the last few years, so I recently revisited it, and updated some of the writing with more personal experiences in mind. I think there's a certain point of night when I start romanticizing everything, so you could say this song is about that momentary dreamer coming out.
What do you want the listener to take away when listening to it?
I want listeners to have a soundtrack to those dreamy moments, where things don't need to be over thought. And hopefully it just supplies a good summer jam for our fans!
Who produced it?
I'm especially thrilled about this song, because it's the first Millicent release that was made completely in house. Our drummer, Tyler, really took the reins on this project and we produced it from the ground up. I think it's a shift into a new way of doing things within Millicent, and I'm really excited to see how it evolves!
How does it differ from your other releases? Or would you say it has a similar style?
I think sonically it's a natural progression, however it's a lot fuller than the songs off "Deux." Also, this will be the first track that we have Steve playing real bass on, which brings a whole new flavor.
