For someone who hasn’t heard your songs before, how would you describe your music?
I would say it's a unique sound, sort of a mix of alternative pop and rock.
How long have you been singing? How long have you been writing your own songs?
I've been singing since I could talk, my parents have videos of me at the age of 4 singing to Britney Spears in the basement.
I started writing songs in middle school, however I refused to show them to anyone because I thought they were really stupid in cheesy. It wasn’t until about freshman year of high school I started getting more confident with my songwriting abilities.
You recently released your debut EP. What was the writing and recording process for that like? How long have you been working on the songs?
I wrote all the songs before I went down to Nashville to record, and 3 of the songs on the EP were Co-Written by my best friend Amy Bittle. But all the songs on the EP were written within a day or two. Usually the songs I write quickly end up being the best ones!
The recording process was awesome. My producers really took them time to listen to me, and they created the vision I had in my head for these songs.
Where is your favorite venue to play and why?
I really love playing at The Brew on Broadway and Bwiched. Everyone it so friendly at The BoB, plus it was one of the first places I started playing. And I really like Bwiched, because it has such a cool vibe to it! Plus the food is great.
Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
That’s a tough one. There are so many! Right now I'm focusing a lot on writing lyrics, so I would have to say some of my favorite lyricists are Hozier, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, Halsey, Taylor Swift. I love it when artist's lyrics are open for interpretation. The song might mean one thing to you, but really the artist wrote it for a completely different reason, and that's why I Iove it. You can relate to so many different people.
What would your ideal show look like if you could perform at any venue opening for any musician?
My dream is to one day sell out Red Rocks, singing my own songs, with a cool setting behind me.
But if I could open for anyone it would be either Taylor Swift or Panic! at the Disco. I know that's kind of a drastic difference in artists. But Taylor Swift is such a huge inspiration, and Brendon Urie is amazing and I just love all their music.
What are your goals for the next year?
I would really like to start opening up for some bigger Colorado bands and start building a bigger local fan base. I'm in the process of getting a back up band together, so hopefully I can this summer!
