Are there any music-related memories from your past that have stuck with you?
One of my first concerts.. Madonna.. I went with my dad, I dressed up like her .. being in a huge stadium.. the roar of the crowd.. it was mind blowing !!!
Have your studies of the human mind influenced your lyrics or songs in general? If so, how?
I’d like to think so, I feel the mind- body- language connection is so strong.. and I hope some of my past analytic & scientific work comes out in my art. science and art are inextricably connected and they each raise the bar for the other.
What are you trying to express most in your music? Is there a particular message you are trying to send?
Authenticity.. my experiences, my observations. my notes to self!! Right now, I am on a female empowerment tip.. so that is a huge theme for me.
Which musicians do you most admire?
By far Beyonce. She is a FORCE. I so admire how she has fun with her art, but also expresses really important views. She uses her voice for good. I love that. Bey, if you are listening, I'd love to write with you!!
How did it feel to have your single “Baller” land on NBC’s “Good Girls”?
Amazing. Blessed. There is a lot of incredible music out there, the competition is fierce. To be chosen to have your song matched to picture is really validating.
Can you describe your dream tour?
Beyonce and Alt j.
What can we expect from your next?
More music!! More messages of positivity and empowerment.
Last but not least, a weird one: If the world were to end in 24 hours, what’s the first thing you would do?
For sure I’d get together my dog and all my loved ones. In the end love is all that matters.
