It's been a while since City and Colour has released a song, but the newly released 9-minute track "Woman" makes a statement that is nothing less than bold, dark, beautiful, and on the edge. The song reminds me of something that would be playing in the background of a final scene in a TV drama where the murderer is unveiled, standing outside the building he just lit on fire as the camera pans out over the darkened city.
The emotion and intensity of this song is something that I imagine would give me chills during a live performance. Redefining his sound in a matured and thoughtful manner, I look forward to an album more hard-hitting and vulnerable than any City and Colour album has expressed before.
