Atlas Genius has a brilliant sound that rocks the entire audience. Everyone was dancing and singing along to new and old songs. The crowd raised their drinks in celebration, and seemed thoroughly entertained by the band’s performance. The openers, named Half the Animal and Flor, rocked just as much as Genius did, and created a perfect trio of similar sounds. Every single artist that stepped on stage had a contagious rock-and-roll energy about them that could be felt through every song.
The stage setup looked entrancing. The lights and stage movement added to each song, making the concert an unforgettable experience. The drums were offset on top of a lit stage, to add height and intriguing dimensions from the audience’s view. Every laser and spotlight that was lit, moved with purpose and gave the venue an even stronger sense of excitement.
While most of the band’s music was made in 2013 to 2015, Atlas Genius plans to make more, and hinted at a new album after the release of their single “63 days.” This track also titled their worldwide tour, which included a stop at Red Rocks to open for Jimmy Eat World and Incubus on October 3. The Australian band produced this new song with the same old sound that everyone loves; relating them to bands like Saint Motel, Bad Suns, and Young the Giant. While staying true to their old music, I am excited to discover what new music they release with a more current twist.
